Mencia Grape

Mencia has been in Spain for hundreds of years and was nearly a forgotten grape.
In the seventies, some pioneering wine makers decided to invest in the Bierzo region where the grape is grown and bring it back to dominate as the choice for winemaking in the region. Mencia is best described as having black-blue berries with thick skins that can produce deep coloured, full-bodied wines with notable tannins.

Tilenus Crianza - D.O. Bierzo Tilenus Crianza - D.O. Bierzo
Made from 100% Mencia grape, this great crianza has won great review from some of the best wine critics including Robert Parker who rated this one of his best wines and gave it 90 points. Aged for 12 months in nutural Oak, this wine has full red ruby colour with strong raspberry and black cherry aromas. This is a great wine with balance and character.

"The tannin is soft, and the bouquet reveals lovely floral, black cherry, raspberry, smoke, earth, and mineral scents. Medium-bodied, pure and racy, with a certain tension to its elements, it requires careful introspection to appreciate all the nuances. Drink it over the next 3-4 years. (Robert Parker, June 2005)"
